At the "W3C Workshop on Web of Things - Enablers and Services for an open Web of Devices", which took place on June 25 and 26, 2014 in Berlin, the CNI presented its research concerning ISO/IEC 15118 standardization for the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Communication Interface. The workshop addressed future research by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) for the Web of Things. Assuming that there is more and more networking in the Internet of Things, current issues of how the value creation process of underlying data in the Web of Things can be designed technologically. At that, the integration of electric vehicles into smart grids is a concrete case of application, in which W3C web technologies from the area of Web of Things come into effect.

The CNI is part of the development of the V2G Communication Interface as part of the ISO/IEC 15118 Joint Working Group since years, supported the specification process based on web technologies and leads the Working Group concerned with the development of conformance test standards. For demonstration purposes, a prototype which has been developed by the CNI as part of the eNterop project on the basis of these web technologies has been presented at the W3C Workshop. This prototype demonstrates the communication interface between electric vehicle and charging infrastructure on the basis of ISO/IEC 15118-2 and -3.
