MOVE.Digital

The MOVE.Digital project focuses on the development of integrative digital concepts for data-driven and connected mobility in smart cities. Its objective is to coordinate urban mobility services via a shared digital foundation in order to enable efficient, flexible, and demand-oriented mobility offerings. A common data basis allows for a more detailed understanding of urban mobility needs and supports the intelligent control and continuous adaptation of mobility services across the city. A particular emphasis is placed on the integration of connected mobility solutions into public transport chains, including the teleoperated operation of mobility participants. By embedding these concepts into existing public transport structures, MOVE.Digital lays the groundwork for new economic potential and supports the development of sustainable and networked urban mobility services.

Within MOVE.Digital, ComNets Dortmund contributes to the development and evaluation of connected mobility applications with a particular focus on reliable mobile communication. The work addresses two reference scenarios: short-term use cases along urban mobility corridors and long-term concepts for driverless and teleoperated mobility. Both scenarios require continuous and high-quality mobile network coverage, especially in dense urban areas and during large public events. ComNets supports the project by analyzing and validating mobile network performance and connectivity requirements under real urban conditions. On this basis, data-driven approaches such as regional 5G network slicing are investigated to ensure defined quality-of-service levels for critical mobility applications. Using simulations and real-world trials in the city of Dortmund, ComNets contributes to the reliable, scalable, and resource-efficient operation of digital mobility services.
