The demonstration of the potential of 6G-supported immersive robot control attracted a lot of attention at TU Dortmund University's Open Day. Manuel Patchou and Kevin Šabanović from the CNI team demonstrated a scenario in which a container with potentially hazardous substances had to be sealed by a remote-controlled robot. The practical demonstration clearly illustrated the need for highly reliable real-time communication, which will be supported by future 6G networks. The concrete scenario also illustrated the impact of 6G research in building a resilient society and increasing safety for emergency services and citizens. The underlying research is being carried out in the large-scale research projects 6G research hub 6GEM and German Rescue Robot Centre (DRZ), both of which are generously supported by the BMBF.
