Together with the Wirtschaftsförderung Dortmund, CPS.HUB/NRW has hosted the conference "Das nächste Level der Mobilität – Automatisierung, multimodale Services und die Rolle von Daten", at which internationally well-known scientists discuss the future of mobility. Among presentations by Prof. Dr. Fosca Gianotti of the KDD Lab in Pisa and Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Gunopulos of the University of Athens, there were also leading German scientists, who attended the conference, such as Prof. Dr. Katharina Morik. For the first time, as part of the associated exhibition, because of a recently purchased special vehicle of the Communication Networks Institute of TU Dortmund, the institute's powerful mmWave 5G New Radio test route could be brought into service in a field experiment. Due to the mobile 5G laboratory environment, with the aid of so-called Pencil Beams, it is possible to establish strongly directed communication links, which enable a data transmission rate from up to 2,8Gbit/s and therefore exceed current 4G systems in many respects. The usage of this 5G New Radio Hardware, that is not to be found at the market by now, enables the institute to actively work on the development of communication technologies of the future.
