Free offer of the Competence Center 5G.NRW is very well received.

At the beginning of the year the Competence Center 5G.NRW published the free service of the 5G Campus Network Planner (in German: 5G Campusnetzplaner). The aim of this service is to provide companies with a quick introduction to the local 5G radio license and to determine the frequency fee that is likely to be charged for the company-specific campus network in a few intuitive steps. In this article, an analysis of the service's usage statistics is conducted.

Since its publication on 16.01.2020, the offer has continuously been very well received and has so far attracted more than 3000 visitors nationwide (see Figure 1). About 50 percent of the users are unique visitors. In addition to this overall very positive reception and feedback on the existing 5G Campus Network Planner, the multiple use by a large proportion of visitors in particular suggests that the offer is well received. A particularly positive aspect is that, despite the local orientation of the Competence Center 5G.NRW, a total of approximately 50 percent of all visitors come from all over Germany.

With regard to the core parameters of the BNetzA fee formula (area, bandwidth and duration), the standard parameter of 10 years is generally used for the duration. With regard to the parameter of bandwidth, the picture is divided significantly between the standard parameter of 10 MHz and the maximum of 100 MHz, with only approx. 14.6 percent of visitors using the full range of possibilities. In contrast, the distribution of the areas enclosed by the individually selected polygons is much more heterogeneous. The core of all the areas determined (87.7 percent) lies in the range of 0 - 2 km² (Ø: 1.3 km²). Only a small proportion of 12.3 percent relates to larger areas between 2 and a maximum of 20 km².
