Researchers from CNI have contributed to joint publication of 6G-ANNA partners on the role of artificial intelligence in future 6G networks.

The paper “Towards AI in 6G: Concepts, Techniques, and Standards” has been recently published in the journal IEEE Access. The work, carried out in the framework of the BMFTR-funded lighthouse project 6G-ANNA, brings together experts from academia and industry, including partners from Vodafone, Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, TU Dresden, TU Berlin, and Fraunhofer HHI. TU Dortmund is represented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Wietfeld and his team.
The study highlights how AI can support the development of intelligent, autonomous and sustainable 6G networks, for example through improved resource management, network automation and trustworthy AI methods. TU Dortmund contributed expertise on AI-native adaptive networks which can jointly manage several optimization strategies such as network planning, scheduling and slicing. The resulting holistic, cross-domain control loops enable continuous global optimizations, allowing future 6G network operations to become autonomous, adjustable, and more efficient.
This publication also marks the final phase of the 6G-ANNA lighthouse project, which celebrated its final meeting at this year's 6G Platform event in Berlin.
