At the end of 2016, we are delighted that two scientists of the institute have been honored with notable awards for their research. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Ide received one of the prestigious junior awards by the Informationstechnische Gesellschaft (ITG) in the VDE for his thesis "Resource-Efficient LTE Machine-Type Communication in Vehicular Environments". Some days later, Benjamin Sliwa, who currently does research on innovative routing protocols for networked vehicles in the SFB 876 in the subproject B4, received the ABB-Award for the best Mater's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of 2016.

Dr.-Ing. Christoph Ide, former head of the research groups of the CNI and Alumni of SFB 876, received one of the prestigious junior awards by the Informationstechnische Gesellschaft (ITG) in the VDE for his thesis "Resource-Efficient LTE Machine-Type Communication in Vehicular Environments". The nationally fiercely contested award was handed over at a solemn celebration at the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften in Berlin on November 29, 2016. The research results of the DFG Sonderforschungsbereich SFB 876 "Datenanalyse unter Ressourcenbeschränkungen" are an excellent contribution to the development of future mobile radio-based traffic systems, which will support growing automation of the reliable, simultaneous and efficient communication between the single system components. This research also makes a valuable contribution to future 5G networks, especially in terms of the Internet of Things.

Some days later, Benjamin Sliwa, who currently does research on innovative routing protocols for networked vehicles in the SFB 876 in the subproject B4, received the ABB-Award for the best Mater's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of 2016. As part of his master's program, Mr. Sliwa wrote his excellent final paper "Intelligentes Routing in mobilen Ad-Hoc-Netzen durch multifaktorielle Mobilitätsprädiktion" at the Communication Networks Institute. The award was handed over within the scope of the academic annual celebration of the department on December 2, 2016.

The high distinctions are cause for celebration and simultaneously an incitement to build up upon these achievements and to continue strengthening the position of the institute in the fields of the networking of cyber-physical systems.
