01.06.2013 – From July 2013 to September 2013 Ren-Huang Liu completed a research internship at the Communication Networks Institute. His research topic was Voice over LTE in vehicular environments (related to project B4 of SFB 876). Using the CNI lab equipment (LTE base station emulator and channel emulator), he performed measurements of the delay and the packet error rate which enables the calculation of user velocity dependent voice quality (Mean Opinion Score (MOS)). The study shows that LTE can provide acceptable VoIP quality in high-speed scenarios. In addition, guidelines for the network operators to select the appropriate parameter values when deploying their VoIP services in LTE were provided. The results are summarized in a paper together with Christian Wietfeld, Christoph Ide and Björn Dusza.
