GLIDE: Gamified Latency-Induced Dynamics in Teleoperated Air Hockey Environment

During the winter semester 2024/25, the Master's project group GLIDE deployed a gamified robotics demonstrator to explore the impact of latency on time-critical applications. In this context, a web app for remote robot control, various game modes as well as control & visualization interfaces were created and the chair's vSTING system was integrated into the setup. Last, the nine students presented the results to the members of CNI including a live demo. The project group is part of the Master's degree program Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and challenges students to solve scientific tasks collaboratively.
The students' successful preliminary work has already been incorporated and expanded by members of CNI during the term of the project group in order to exhibit an interactive demonstrator for various research topics at the BMBF booth during this year's Hannover Messe, which was met with great interest by the visitors. We would like to thank the project group participants for their great contribution and wish the students a lot of fun and success in their ongoing studies.
